Physocarpus opulifolius 'Little Angel' is a compact Ninebark variety with vibrant, ever-changing foliage. Fresh orange-red leaves emerge in spring, gradually deepening to a rich burgundy as the season progresses, providing colour and interest from spring through to autumn. In early summer, rounded clusters of white flowers contrast beautifully with the dark foliage, followed by small ornamental fruits that extend the season of interest.With its neat growth habit, this hardy shrub is perfect for mixed borders, cottage-style planting, or as a striking feature in patio containers. Robust, reliable, and fuss-free, ‘Little Angel’ is an excellent choice for adding colour and structure with minimal effort.Growing InstructionsPlant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, in full sun or semi-shade. Prefers acidic to neutral soils, though will tolerate more alkaline conditions (may show chlorosis on very chalky soils). Improve soil before planting with well-rotted compost or manure. Water regularly until established. Mulch in spring to conserve moisture and feed the plant. After flowering, prune back shoots to a healthy pair of buds unless seed heads are required. For long-term maintenance, cut back up to one fifth of the oldest stems to the base each year.
