“Hopley’s Orange” is a compact, deciduous shrub with a bushy habit. It has small, dark-green pinnate leaves which are approximately 3 cm in length. Five-petalled flowers, approximately 5 cm across, bloom during the summer months with various hues of oranges and yellows. Generally, prefers sun to partially shaded areas. In full sun, the colour of the flowers may not be as brilliant. Also, the flowering will last longer if the soil is able to maintain levels of moisture. Although it is deciduous, it is full hardy and can withstand the temperatures in all of the UK. Prune unwanted branches at the end of the season or at the beginning of spring. Suggested uses include: flower borders and beds where its beautiful blooms can add to colourful arrangements as a backdrop; use as a unique hedge or screen in a city garden due to its decorative flowering; or in more informal garden settings, as such, it works great in coastal areas, as well as gardens and plantings around a cottage.
