This compact, bushy sub shrub is ideal for planting in beds and borders but also works well in pots and herb planters. The grey-green foliage is highly aromatic and is topped with racemes of small violet-purple tubular flowers throughout the summer months. Sage Maxima boasts large oval leaves that are bursting with flavour. They can be used fresh or dried to enrich meat and stuffing dishes. The leaves also aid digestion and can be harvested fresh whenever they’re required. Salvia Officinalis Maxima thrive in light, well-draining soil out of strong, chilly winds. This is a drought-tolerant plant that only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells. It prefers a spot in full sun but tolerates partial shade.
