Gardeners Dream Aster Purple DomeLate Flowering Michaelmas Daisy Plants Outdoor Garden Ready from B&Q
Gardeners Dream
As the name would suggest, Aster Purple Dome boasts tightly domed lush green foliage, above which masses of purple daisy-like flowers bloom. The semi-double flowers boast a vibrant orange-yellow centre, which contrasts beautifully with the purple petals and attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators into the garden. These New England Aster plants flower late in the season, blooming from September to November and giving them the common name, Michaelmas Daisies, as their flowering period coincides with the feast of St Michael. Asters are generally used as border and bedding plants. However, they grow well in pots and containers, making them perfect for brightening up the patio. Michaelmas Daisies are low maintenance garden plants that are easy to grow and care for. As herbaceous perennials, they die back over winter before sprouting back up again the following spring. Plant Asters in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-draining soil that isn’t prone to waterlogging. Water regularly until established and then only during dry spells. Cut back spent stems after flowering and provide mulch in autumn. This cultivar reaches an eventual height of up to 60cm and spread of up to 45cm. Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth. This plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
