Boasting an array of warm apricot, tangerine, pink, and yellow tones complemented by creamy white, these mixed Clusiana Tulips will be the envy of your neighbours. the 2-toned flowers bloom upright on sturdy mid-green stems and start off bowl-shaped before opening out into a more star-like shape as they mature. Each bloom is around 10cm wide and makes an attractive addition to any cut flower arrangement. Available from early September to mid-December, these 6-8 sized Tulip bulbs are relatively simple to grow and care for. The ideal time to plant them is from September to October in pots or mid-October – December (after the first frost) in beds and borders. Choose a sheltered, sunny spot and dig a hole around 20cm deep in well-draining soil. Position the bulb in the hole and backfill with soil, gently firming down as you go, then water in well. Leave 10-15cm between bulbs to afford space for the roots to develop. During the growing season, Tulips benefit from applying a high-potash fertiliser to help encourage an abundance of flowers from March to April. When the flowers begin to fade, deadhead spent blooms then allow the plant time to die back completely before removing the foliage. The bulbs can then either be dug up and stored for planting the next autumn or left in the ground to flower in the same place the following year.
