Glenallachie’s Cask Strength series showcases the distillery’s rich offering at full power, iconic Master Distiller Billy Walker forever striving to outdo each previous, carefully crafted batch. Batch 13’s cask make up is heavily weighted towards Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, with just over fifty percent of the edition coming from PX; the remainder is split roughly into three, slightly heftier on virgin oak and oloroso than red wine. A captivatingly indulgent, yet complex dram. Proudly presented at its cask strength of 59.8% abv, natural colour and non-chill filtered. Mocha, candied ginger and cinnamon precede rich honey, molasses and syrupy cherries on the nose; the palate is all dark chocolates and caramels, with warmed honey and a buttery citrus note. Syrup-glazed blackberries and pools of fig molasses stud the finish.
