The ring creates a hinge in-between the lead system and the hooklink which is designed to allow the rig to lay correctly on the bottom.\n \nThe PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) coating is a synthetic polymer which has one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid.
