It is smaller comparing to other Echinodorus species and it fits well in smaller aquariums. Its elongate-elliptic underwater leaves can range from green to purple and a deep red depending on the growing conditions. In emersed form this plant is taller and can reach about 40 cm. Once planted in the aquarium new submerged leaves will appear showing the full beauty of this plant. The submerged plant often reaches a height of only 20 cm. Echinodorus Aflame grows relatively slower comparing with other sword species and requires nutrient reach substrate. Rather strong light is recommended for this cultivar.
