Hashira Linear pendant light with cylindrical textile shade The Hashira pendant light is similar in design to a traditional Japanese lantern made of rice paper, but its lampshade is made of fabric rather than paper. This is stretched around the metal frame, the struts of which are visible through the fabric and give the light a graphic effect. The pendant light owes its name to its shape, as Hashira is the Japanese word for column. The Hashira lighting series was created by the design company Norm Architects. Founded in 2008, the design studio works primarily in the fields of residential architecture, commercial interiors, art direction and graphics, and the deliberately chosen name Norm emphasises the importance of standards and traditions in the fields of architecture and aesthetics.
