Pao Portable Table Lamp with Rechargeable Battery The Pao Portable table lamp is part of the Pao lamp collection, designed for HAY by the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. Named after the soft shape of traditional Mongolian pao tents, Pao draws on Fukasawa’s aesthetic of beautiful simplicity. In doing so, he has created an everyday object that draws on design principles found in nature. By keeping the aesthetic simple and uncluttered, he brings the design into harmony with its surroundings. Both the base and the lampshade of the table lamp are made from durable polycarbonate with a smooth, high-gloss finish. The light source of the light is concealed inside the lampshade behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser, producing an efficient, diffused downward glow with a warm, cosy ambience. Thanks to its battery operation, this compact light can be used as an atmospheric light source in a wide variety of locations around the house, in the garden or on the terrace. A switch located at the base of the light allows the light to be adjusted to different brightness levels. Naoto Fukasawa founded his own company, Naoto Fukasawa Design, in 2003. His designs are renowned for Fukasawa’s ability to capture the true essence of an object and communicate it.
