Translucent white Lampshades provide diffused ambient light, while colored shades provide downward directional light. I wanted this Lamp to be more sensual than technical, to make the object less demonstrative and more user-friendly. At the same time as Hay was developing its first lighting collection, we worked on the Lamp PC project with the shared desire to offer a sophisticated yet affordable product. As a designer, I want to create objects that can easily cross the boundary between home, Desk, public space, outdoors and indoors. The PC Lamp is a fine example of this boundless vision of design. What interested me was seeing the Lamp as a presence, as part of the domestic landscape. I wanted the object to be readable as a whole.
