The VL Studio collection is derived from a lamp model designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for Radiohuset, Copenhagen's former Radio House, in the 1940s. The name ''Studio'' was chosen because some of these lamps acted as indicators for recording sessions, with one red and one green lamp mounted outside the studio. Vilhelm Lauritzen was Radiohuset's architect. Designed in a functionalist style, the building was inaugurated in 1945. Like most of Vilhelm Lauritzen's buildings, Radiohuset was a total work, meaning he designed the building down to the last detail, including Decoration. During the development of Radiohuset, Vilhelm Lauritzen designed a wide range of lamps in close collaboration with Louis Poulsen. Louis Poulsen took over production of these lamps after their creation in the 1940s. But they were gradually withdrawn from the catalog before making a comeback. The VL Studio lamp was launched in 2022, using the same materials and style as the original Wall light head. It is made of lightly brushed polished brass and three-layer polished white Blown glass. VL Studio is also available in a frosted black finish for a more graphic, streamlined look than the polished brass version, with its softer, warmer appearance. It produces a diffused light through the Opal glass, for a pleasant general lighting effect. The table lamp series is available in three different sizes, which can be used as floor lamps or table lamps, as required. The smallest version, Ø15 cm, has the same diameter as the original VL Studio Wall light.
