GUBI presents a new portable edition of the famous Multi-Lite lamp designed in 1972 by Danish designer and architect Louis Weisdorf. Vintage and refined, with its superimposition of simple, architectural forms, Multi-Lite is typical of lighting fixtures from the golden age of Danish design. Multi-Lite is characterized by remarkable functionality. Framed by a Ring, the mobile Lampshade changes shape to create a multitude of different lighting effects. The central part of the Lampshade is fixed: it consists of two interlocking cylinders containing the light source. Around the cylinders, the outer dome consists of two half-spheres that pivot up and down. These two moving parts can be moved independently of each other to create a multitude of configurations. Light can be directed downwards (direct lighting) or upwards (indirect lighting), or a superb asymmetrical lighting effect can be created. GUBI has worked closely with the Weisdorf family to develop a portable version that incorporates all the versatility of Multi-Lite in a more compact form. The signature ring around the Lampshade now acts as a handle. The two small discs on either side of the ring serve as dimmers in this version. With three settings, Multi-Lite's brightness can be altered to suit the mood or needs of the moment. The Mobile Lampshades have been meticulously designed for smooth, one-handed adjustment. Two diffusers in the upper part of the Lamp prevent glare while creating an attractive glow of indirect light. The Multi-Lite portable lamp is designed and certified for outdoor use, preferably in dry weather (splash-proof). The ideal companion for outdoor evenings.
