IBG Models 1/72 Semovente M41M da 90/53\n\nItalian Tank Destroyer / Self Propelled Gun\n\n20mm Scale\n\nNew, sealed and unbuilt. \n\nRef No : IBG72131\n\nThe Semovente da 90/53 was an Italian self propelled gun based on an extended M14/41 chassis mounting the Cannone da 90/53 anti aircraft gun.\n\nThe gun was mounted to the rear of the vehicle in an open backed turret which left the crew exposed to shrapnel and small arms fire. In addition there was little adidtional armour protection on the vehicle as it was expected to operate far enough from the enemy to avoid incoming fire. The Semovente da 90/53 carried only 8 rounds of ammunition so L6/40 tanks were converted as ammunition carriers to supply them. These were allocated one to each Semovente and carried 26 rounds plus an additional 40 rounds in a towed trailer.\n\nThey were produced in 1942 in response to the Italian need for a weapon to take on the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 on the Eastern Front.&nbsg
