No Thread Reference Tables Required – Just GO / NOGO: There is no need to measure the mean diameter or consult thread tables. The GO end must be screwed in fully by hand. The NOGO end must not be screwed in more than one and a half turns. That is the entire inspection. Repeatable, with no interpretation required. Hardened – Prevents ‘contact marks’ and scratches: Soft plug gauges leave shiny contact marks on the flanks of the threads after just a few inspections. This ring gauge is hardened to 60–62 HRC – the steel surface remains smooth, preventing cold welding or material transfer to the workpiece. The threads remain clean, with no false readings. Lightweight yet rigid – no oval deformation: Thin-walled ring gauges may become deformed and lose their roundness when handled. This design features a compact wall thickness – rigid enough to maintain roundness, yet light enough to be operated with a single finger. Oval deformation can lead to the misjudgement of compliant parts. One ring gauge for multiple part types: Suitable for external threads, whilst also inspecting standard cylindrical diameters, bearing raceways, tube ends and gasket holes. A single tool serves both thread inspection and general ‘fit’ testing – reducing the number of gauges required on the workbench. Application: Ring gauges are equally prevalent in inspection scenarios, such as measuring the dimensions of circular products like bearings, bores, and pipes, and can even assess wall thickness and shim dimensions.
