This sodium chloride crystal model is crafted from odorless high-quality PVC and equipped with a matching base stand. The material delivers corrosion resistance, light weight and excellent structural strength for long-term repeated display. The full assembly set consists of 14 green 30mm chloride ion spheres, 13 silver-gray 23mm sodium ion spheres and 54 plastic 66mm connecting rods for complete lattice construction. The model accurately replicates sodium chloride’s face-centered cubic unit cell structure, presenting two mutually interpenetrating face-centered cubic lattices composed of anions and cations respectively. It clearly shows the octahedral coordination rule of NaCl crystal: every cation is surrounded by 6 anions and every anion is surrounded by 6 cations; each unit cell holds 4 sodium ions and 4 chloride ions at a 1:1 ratio. This proportional crystal model serves as a standard demonstration prop for high school & university inorganic chemistry courses, academic research, laboratory display and professional chemistry teaching presentations.
