Started by the first King of Italy in 1858, Fontanafredda has a rich history. The estate was passed down to the King’s son, Emanuele Alberto, who developed the winery to a major wine-producing estate, well-known for its Barolo and Gavi di Gavi. In 2008, it was taken over by Oscar Farinetti, who converted the vineyards to organic farming. This fresh expression of Gavi di Gavi is a zesty, food-loving wine made from the Cortese grape. It’s crisp and refreshing, with delicate florals, green apples, citrus, and a subtle minerality. The perfect aperitif or serve alongside seafood dishes and creamy risottos.
