Carrot Berlicum: A mid/late maturing variety, mid length with good flavour and \nreliability. Sow carrots 1 cm deep from March to July, but be sure to \ndig your soil well so that it is quite fine and friable. You should sow \ncarrots directly into the soil where they are to grow because \ntransplanting them from a seed tray into the ground can attract the \ndreaded carrot root fly, which will lay its eggs in the base of your \ncarrots. This sometimes happens anyway when thinning out (to 5 cm \nbetween each plant).
