The hood retracts in and out of your worksurface when you need it- saving invaluable space and maintaining the contemporary and minimalist look in your kitchen or open plan area. Downdraft hoods are installed behind a hob, reversing the direction of rising smoke and fumes to a downward direction.   The design of the unit lends itself perfectly to a kitchen island, although in traditional work surface settings, the extractor can sit close to the wall behind the hob.   Ducting or re-circulating Most Smeg hoods offer the choice of ducting or re-circulating, so you can choose your preferred method.   Venting/ducting out provides optimum extraction of cooking fumes by expelling them outside, using a vent kit (available as an optional accessory)  This hood has 150mm vent outlet, so you can choose between the following options:   SP150 - Simple vent kit for hoods with a 150mm diameter vent outlet SP150FLAT - Comprehensive vent kit for hoods with a 150mm diameter vent outlet   Re-circulating extracts the cooking fumes and passes them through active charcoal filters (available as an optional accessory), recirculating the cleaned air back into the room.
