Kartell Table lamp Transparent Plastic material. Dimensions: Ø 20 x H 43 cm - Diameter: Ø 16 cm. Italian designer Fabio Novembre likes to create objects inspired by the architectural heritage of his native southern Italy. A kind of modern-day chalice, the Pumo table lamp reproduces the particular shape of the traditional lucky charm of the same name, which originated in the Puglia region. The ''pumo'' in Italian (or Pine apple) is a flower bud, a symbol of new life rooted in ancient Apulian tradition. It is usually placed at the end of balconies, columns and terraces, and in pairs on the side of newlyweds' beds to wish them happiness, prosperity and fertility. Whenever you walk through the historic center of a Puglian town, it's very likely that you'll see one on the corner of a balcony or at the entrance to a house. Fabio Novembre's focus on this symbol of rural Italy underlines his close ties with his home region. Fabio Novembre's creations revolve around memory and the collective imagination: these small-scale architectural elements contain fragments of the past, and are charged with enigmas and aesthetic suggestions. This table lamp is fitted with a Dimmer. It is made of recycled PMMA with an aluminium base.
