This Altecnic 0. 16 Litre Shock Arrestor is specially designed to prevent the long term effects of water hammer, across a number of appliances & systems. Those would include Boilers, Sinks and Washing machines. The Altecnic Shock Arrestor consists of a Pressure Vessel, divided into two chambers by a flexible rubber membrane or diaphragm. A shock arrestor works on a heating system by using a compressible gas separated by a diaphragm to cushion sudden pressure spikes. These spikes in pressure are absorbed from WAter Hammer and thermal expansion, protecting pipes and components from damage and noise. When water suddenly stops, the kinetic energy creates a shockwave which the arrestor absorbs before it travels down pipework, preventing expansion stress
