Waylon Jennings was an influential American country music singer. In 1965, he moved to Nashville with Johnny Cash - this was the start of a lasting friendship.\nJennings was well known for his need to be different and for insisting his music would never resemble the pop music coming out of Nashville in the 60's and 70's.\nHe was a vital performer in the outlaw country music movement, rejecting all pop conventions. Jennings career really took off in the 70's and he was known as a superstar to the mainstream pop audiences as well as the country audiences. He recorded a number of successful hits, such as \""This time\"" and \""I'm A Rambling Man\"" (1974) both reaching number one. He also released a number of popular duets, with Willie Nelson, including the multi-platinum \""Waylon and Willie\"" (1978).\nOver the course of the late 70's and early 80's Jennings achieved ten number one hits.
