The Dorgard is an innovative fire safety device and a legal solution that allows you to hold your fire doors open to improve ventilation, wheelchair access and general convenience. In the event of a fire, the device will respond to the sound of a fire alarm and will close fire doors. This fire door retainer by Fireco uses an easy foot-operated setting and release system, which unlike many magnetic fire door retainers, can hold the door open in any selected position. Dorgard fire door retainers have a rubber plunger/stopper which remains in contact with the floor when 'open'. When a fire alarm sounds for 14 continuous seconds, the device's integral audio-electronic device signals the plunger to retract, allowing the fire door close normally. Each unit is battery powered, so there is no need for complex and expensive wiring into the building's fire alarm system.
