The Academy USAF F-15E D-Day 75th Anniversary Model Kit allows you to capture a piece of aviation history in authentic detail and 1:72 scale. The model kit comes with the markings for the USAF 97-0219 492nd SQ and 91-0603 494th SQ, 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath June 2019. During the Second World War, the 48th Fighter Wing’s primary aircraft was the P-47 Thunderbolt, so for the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landing, the 492nd FS/48th FW at RAF Lakenheath England painted one of their aircrafts in markings representing the black and white stripes worn by Allied aircraft. The 492nd FS/ 48th FW assisted D-Day by bombing bridges, railways and cutting off German supply lines. This a great addition to any model collection!
