It describes the selection and building of the site and the efforts made to get the factory up and running while the Battle of Britain raged in the skies in 1940. It shows how the site quickly got to grips with producing the Merlin in vast numbers with a total of 23, 647 being produced by the war's end. After the war, Rolls-Royce purchased the site and continued Merlin and Griffon production there.
