As from the beginning of the 20th century it fell into decline and was finally taken off the list of navigable rivers in 1926.\n\nThanks to the efforts of the Association for the Lot Valley, a huge programme is underway to restore the river for leisure craft. The first section to be reopened was the 60 km stretch between Luzech and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. This was extended for a distance of 10 km in 2007 and one can now reach Larnagol.
