Thompson & Morgan Physocarpus Opulifolius Lady In Red 3.6 Litre Potted Plant X 1 from B&Q
Thompson & Morgan
A weatherproof, easy to grow shrub, which has eye-catching, ruby-red foliage, hence the name! Clusters of dainty, pinkish flowers are produced from early summer, with red berries that follow and persist well into the autumn. Thompson & Morgan Physocarpus ‘Lady in Red’ is ideal for those looking for a colourful addition to their mixed borders, and plants are suitable for sun or shade. Plant Physocarpus in fertile, well-drained, moist soil in full sun or semi-shade. Thompson & Morgan Physocarpus plants prefer an acidic to neutral soil, but will tolerate more alkaline soils, although they may become chlorotic in very chalky areas. Incorporate organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting. Water regularly throughout the growing season, until young Physocarpus plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. After flowering, cut back the flowered shoots to a healthy pair of buds, unless seed heads are required for late season interest. Physocarpus Opulifolius tolerates fairly hard pruning and may be cut back by half every few years to maintain a smaller size. On mature plants, cut back about one quarter to one fifth of the oldest shoots to their base, to promote strong new growth.
