Thompson & Morgan
Honeysuckle periclymenum ‘Scentsation’ is a deciduous woodbine presenting beautiful pale yellow and ivory blooms from midsummer to September, releasing a potent, sweet fragrance. Following the scented flowers, glossy scarlet berries emerge, adding late summer interest and providing food for wild birds.Plant this honeysuckle against sturdy supports like trellis or strong wires attached to walls and pergolas, ensuring fertile, moist, free-draining soil. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded location. Improve poor soils with well-rotted manure or garden compost. When growing honeysuckle in patio containers, use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3. Regularly feed and water throughout the growing season until established. Monitor young shoots for aphids, especially in full sun.Prune immediately after flowering, removing the oldest stems and reducing the remaining stems to control vigorous growth to the available space. Apply a spring mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. This honeysuckle adds a wonderful touch to cottage gardens. Allow it to climb walls and fences or train it over pergolas and doorways to fully appreciate its fragrance. Caution: harmful if eaten.Ideal for walls and fences, cottage gardens, scented gardens and woodland gardens. It is a hardy variety that thrives in sun or semi-shade, reaching heights of up to 700cm (275.6in) and spreads up to 100cm (39.4in). Requires a little experience to grow and a little experience for aftercare.
