These cheery Limnathes ‘Spanish Omelette Mixed’ (poached egg plants) will brighten up your garden through summer with their bright yellow and white blooms. Easy to grow and perfect for a sunny spot with free-draining soil, their low-growing nature means they’re perfect for filling small spaces and gaps at the front of the border, edging pathways or tucked into a rockery. Sow April to May. Sow outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 3mm (1/8 inch) deep, in rows 30cm (12 inches) apart. For spring/summer flowering pot plants sow in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in late summer/early autumn. Grow on cool in full light and water sparingly. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 15cm (6 inches) apart.
