It is traditionally used as the definitive herb for authentic Moroccan mint tea, as well as refreshing summer cocktails like mojitos, where its potent oils provide a cooling, aromatic kick. This plant is typically grown as a hardy perennial that forms a rapidly spreading clump, making it ideal for containers where its invasive roots can be contained. It is extremely tough and frost-tolerant, dying back in winter before emerging strongly again in spring. For the best results and lushest growth, plant it in a location with full sun or partial shade. It is not drought-tolerant and thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive soil that is kept consistently moist through regular watering.
