Mrs R Bolton is a Spencer type Sweet Pea boasting ruffled flowers in baby pink, fading to white towards the centre. The large flowers emerge on tall stems, with each stem bearing between 3 and 6 blooms. Flowering from June to September, these lightly fragranced flowers have a delicately sweet scent. They are ideal for cut flower arrangements, lasting up to 5 days in a vase indoors. Being climbing plants, Mrs R Bolton Sweet Peas benefit from a support in the form of a trellis or obelisk to scramble up. They are easy to grow, preferring a sheltered spot in full sun in well-draining soil. Water well after planting and during dry spells to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Pinch the tips of young plants to promote bushy growth and an abundance of flowers and deadhead spent blooms to encourage further flowering. Also known by the botanical name Lathyrus odoratus, Sweet Peas are renowned for attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, turning your garden into a buzzing hive of activity.
