A very popular deciduous climber, the clematis ‘Ville de Lyon’ is a beautiful shrub with highly distinctive large purple-red flowers with slightly dark petal tips. These blooms appear heavily from the middle of Summer all over the spreading, twining vines and between the rich green foliage to provide a striking, vibrant display. Clematis are perfect for fence, trellis or wall training or when used as a cascading plant on walls or overhangs. Plant in moisture-retentive, well-drained soils and keep in full or partial sun. Prefers some shade as warmer Summers and direct sunlight for long periods may cause leaf scorch and fade the flowers colour. Keep the root and plant base cool and shaded.
