Cord fabric is known for its distinctive ridged pattern, or "wales," which vary in width. The wale number indicates ridges per inch—lower numbers mean thicker wales (e.g., jumbo cord), while higher numbers mean finer ridges (e.g., needlecord). With a velvet-like texture and cosy feel, it’s ideal for transitional seasons. Cord has a nap, and its direction can be felt by running your hand along the fabric. This is a lovely medium weight fabric ideal for dressmaking. This fabric is available in a great variety of colours and weighs approximately 150 grams per square metre. Suggested Washing Instructions: 40 degrees. Please allow 10% shrinkage for all fabrics to be on the safe side and always test a sample first to find the most suitable way to wash your chosen fabrics. Approx Width: 140cm / 56" - Our fabrics are cut off the roll and will always be sent in one continuous length. If for any reason we cannot send your fabric in one piece we will contact you to discuss the options. For all fabrics we advise washing before making up in the same manner as you would with subsequent washes (including drying methods) to remove any shrinkage
