It is a remarkable plant that produces snowflake-like leaves measuring up to 50cm in diameter. As it matures, its leaves can extend up to 70cm in length but will change into a more plate-forming type. Thriving in full sun within a sheltered location, it is recommended to feed this plant monthly during the growing season. Its maintenance is comparable to that of tetrapanax. Current research on the site suggests that it can withstand temperatures as low as -8C. However, there have been times where it has successfully endured -4C while maintaining its evergreen nature.
