Water Softener Gap Trap Kit Low Flow 1/2 inch Even if there is room under the kitchen sink, the waste often travels though the wall too high to enable a normal stand pipe and trap to be fitted. To prevent backflow, there is a solution. A standard clamp arrangement can be fitted to the waste pipe (1 1/4" or 1" 1/2"). The Gap Trap can be screwed straight in. This neat little fitting has a trap built in and this stops any smell from coming back through. A 3/8" or 1/2" Air Gap can then be glued on the top. The whole thing only stands 200mm (8") tall and can almost always be fitted under the kitchen sink. Please note that the low flow option can only handle a flow rate up to 1.6 l/min and this isn't high enough for some softeners.
