Pineapple Mint is a decorative herb cultivated primarily for the sweet, fruity fragrance and attractive variegated foliage found in its soft, woolly leaves. It is traditionally used as a beautiful garnish for desserts and summer punches, where its cream-and-green leaves add visual appeal as well as a subtle taste. This plant is typically grown as a hardy perennial, though it is slightly less vigorous and invasive than its all-green parent, Apple Mint. It is generally cold-tolerant, though prolonged wet winters can rot the roots. For the best results and brightest variegation, plant it in a location with partial shade or full sun, provided it isn't scorching. It is not drought-tolerant and needs fertile soil that is kept consistently moist through regular watering.
