'Belle de Nancy' is a classic, highly fragrant French Lilac that produces large, upright panicles of double, soft satiny-pink flowers that slowly fade to a charming, pale lilac-blue as they mature. The heavily scented blooms are highly attractive to pollinators and make superb, long-lasting cut flowers for the home. To keep this shrub vigorous and flowering heavily, plant it in a sunny, open location with good air circulation and well-drained soil. Apply a layer of compost and a handful of lime (if your soil is acidic) around the base, and remove the faded flower heads promptly to prevent seed formation.
