Popular heritage strawberry 'Royal Sovereign' produces very sweet, traditionally flavored fruit prized since 1892 and served at Queen Elizabeth II's coronation banquet. This main-season variety yields top-quality red berries ready to harvest from mid June to mid July. Perennial, peat-free plants grow 0.1–0.5 m and suit pots, patios, borders, raised beds and small vegetable plots. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter (pH 5.5–6.8). Hardy to H2 (tolerant of low temperatures but not surviving freezing; 1 to 5°C). Edible fruit ideal for fresh eating, desserts and preserves.
